What does MTG mean in trading?

In the trading card world, MTG means Magic: The Gathering, and MTG trading covers swapping, buying, and selling its cards. A healthy secondary market has existed since the 1990s: singles range from bulk commons worth pennies to reserved list rarities worth thousands, and stores plus online marketplaces price cards daily. If you see MTG in listings, lots, or trade binders, it identifies the game the cards belong to. In financial markets, the letters more often abbreviate mortgage, as in mtg backed securities, and occasionally appear as a company ticker. In a brokerage context read mortgage; in a marketplace, forum, or card shop context read Magic: The Gathering, the game whose cards people have traded for over thirty years.
